Built for Your Phone: Meet the All-New Standalone VidStations App Experience

If you’ve tuned into VidStations from your phone recently, you might have noticed things look and feel completely different.

When we first launched VidStations.tv, our mobile layout was essentially a scaled-down version of our desktop site squeezed onto a smaller screen. While it worked, we knew that most of our community parties from their phones—holding their device naturally in portrait mode while chatting, requesting tracks, and hanging out in the stream.

You deserved an experience built from the ground up specifically for your thumb, your battery, and your screen.

So, we scrapped the old layout and built a brand-new, standalone mobile shell designed exclusively for mobile partygoers.

What’s New in the Mobile App?

The Sticky Video Stage (No More Floating Windows)

Say goodbye to awkward floating Picture-in-Picture windows cluttering up your display. The new mobile layout anchors a sticky, high-definition video stage right at the top of your screen in portrait mode. As you scroll down to check the chat, browse upcoming tracks, or vote on polls, the music video stays pinned firmly in place.

Under-Video Popup Control Deck

To give you maximum screen real estate without obscuring the music videos, we introduced interactive panels that slide seamlessly beneath the video stage. With a single tap on your mobile action bar, you can bring up:

  • Live Chat & Reaction Boards: Preview the most recent message directly on your main view, or slide up the full chat panel without losing sight of the music video.

  • Add-Ons & Party Games: Jump into interactive trivia, poll voting, and room jukebox features instantly in their own popup panel.

  • Front Row: See who is dancing right below the video. If the station gets packed, open the full Front Row panel to check out the entire crowd.

  • Audience: Tap the active viewer count under the video to open the audience list and see who is tuned in with you.

Native App Shell & Full-Screen Landscape Viewing

We added a dedicated app header featuring a clean top bar and a streamlined bottom navigation menu for effortless one-handed switching between stations, hypes, and your personal profile.

Want to go widescreen? Simply turn your phone horizontally. The app interface tucks away automatically, expanding the video into immersive, edge-to-edge landscape playback.

How to Get the App on Your Phone

Whether you're rocking Android or iOS, getting the standalone app experience onto your home screen takes less than 10 seconds:

Android Users (Google Play Store):

Because Apple devices run our lightweight Web App engine directly, no App Store search is required:

  • Open VidStations.tv in Safari.

  • Tap the Share button (the square icon with the upward arrow at the bottom of Safari).

  • Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.

  • Tap Add in the top-right corner.

Desktop Browsers (Chrome / Edge):

Click the small Install / Monitor icon on the far right side of your browser's address bar to install VidStations as a dedicated desktop app.

Upgrading from an Older Home Screen Icon?

Because phones aggressively cache older web app files to speed up loading, an existing shortcut on your home screen might still open the old desktop layout.

If that's happening:

  • Delete or remove the existing VidStations icon from your home screen.

  • If you're on Android, grab the official build from the Google Play Store.

  • If you're on iPhone, revisit vidstations.tv in Safari and tap Add to Home Screen.
